Local Fire Department Rules and Regulations
Are Bonfires & Recreational Fires Allowed?

  • Bonfires: A permit is required from the Fire Department and the Akron Regional Air Quality Management (EPA).  Contact the Munroe Falls Fire Department 330-688-7493 or EPA 330-375-2480 for additional information.
  • Recreational fires are allowed without a permit; but subject to limitations that are strictly enforced.

Open Burning Regulations
You are open burning anytime you light an outdoor fire.  In the past, many materials  including leaves, tree trimmings, tires and construction debris  were routinely burned outdoors. A detailed list of rules and regulations regarding bonfires and recreational fires is available here:


Business Fire Safety Inspections

Each year the Munroe Falls Fire Department performs business fire safety inspections in accordance with City Ordinances and Ohio Fire Codes. This inspection may be done at your location every other year, yearly or more than one time per year based upon your business classification.  Our goal, as well as yours, is to maintain fire and life-safety and a pleasant environment for you and your patrons.
