The Department of Veteran Affairs
The Department of Veteran Affairs administers a variety of educational benefit programs. Many Veterans and active duty personnel can qualify for more than one benefit program. Visit the GI Bill website at to see if you qualify for benefits.

If you don't have the capability to apply online, you can call 1-888-GI BILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) to have a form mailed to you.

Veteran Identification Card Service
Veteran identification cards will be available to military veterans at participating venues throughout Summit County, according to Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen M. Scalise CPA, CFE. The card is similar in size and shape to a driver’s license and can conveniently serve in place of the military discharge form DD214. Renewal cards will be available to those who hold a card expiring in 2017.

BlueStar Mothers – Non-profit service organization made up of mothers of troops supporting each other and their children. Members hang blue stars in their windows when their children join the service.

Soldiers' Angels – Supports soldiers by sending backpacks full of needed items, letters and by making personal visits and phone calls.
