Why is my quarterly Sanitary Sewer Bill so HIGH?

The water department emails a file to Summit County with your quarterly water meter readings. When the readings were transmitted on September 24, 2019 the file unknowingly contained readings dated August 20, 2019 (instead of September 23, 2019).  These readings were billed by the county making your October sewer bill lower than usual (2 month cycle). Consequently, your next bill (January) was higher than usual (4 month cycle). You may not have noticed or paid much attention but this information was provided to you on the bottom of your water bill in November.

The City contacted our IT company as well as support for both the billing software and the reading software. There is no concrete evidence explaining how the previous read date was grabbed for the file. The city has experienced other technical difficulties due to a lighting strike, but it is undetermined if that played any role. From this point forward, all electronic files are being opened and examined before transmitting to the County for billing.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Water Department at 330-688-7491 ext 223, or Summit County DOSSS at 330-926-2400.
